Questions & Answers

Origin Story: In a couple sentences, how would you describe your path to becoming an investor?

Spent a decade in digital marketing + cofounded Agency Within, the largest independent digital marketing agency in the US. Worked with enterprise brands like Nike, Intuit + Shake Shack and VC-backed startups like Zola, Bandier, Goop, + Rothy's. Successful exit in 2018.Since then been investing in the areas I know + love: DTC, AdTech, + NextGen Commerce.

Investment Approach: What are the key factors you consider when evaluating a founding team?

Founder-market fit. Scalable unit economics.

What's your style and approach when it comes to working with founders post-investment? What are the characteristics of founders you've worked well with?

Can offer lots of advice in digital marketing (spent $1BB+). Work best with founders who come prepared with questions, delegate well, + communicate well.

If I'm coming to pitch to you or your firm, what's the one piece of advice you'd give me?

What's your earned / learned secret about the industry that you believe that no one else does...yet.

How would you describe your own personal mission and values, and how do they impact the way you invest?

Irreverence. I don't care where you went to school (or if you did). I just care about what you're building today. Over 50% of my investments have female / BIPOC / immigrant / LGBTQ+ founders.

What do you like best about investing in NYC, and what’s your outlook on the future of NYC tech?

NY has such a high frequency of talent across industries. It's a breeding ground for great teams. I'm excited to see the revitalization of the coffee / startup scene in Nomad / Flatiron this year!
